Aurum
A Bungalow in the sky...
Status : Completed
Carpet Area : 5145 ft.
A luxurious duplex penthouse sitting atop a residential tower in Koregaon Park, Aurum is the epitome of ‘modern-chic’. A staggered 478 sq. m. floorplate abounding semi covered and open-to-sky spaces, opened the possibility of a play of interior volumes and the introduction of ample daylight into the 6-bedroom home. The layout of the apartment emphasizes a central circulation axis flanked by habitable spaces, opening up to balconies and terraces towards the outer edges.
A sophisticated lift lobby, rendered in wood and brass, arouses a sense of awe, giving initial glimpses into the sheer opulence of the residence beyond. The entrance foyer sits on the central circulation axis, designated by a distinctive flooring pathway, leading to the various residential and living zones on the lower level. To the left of the foyer, a plush formal living space is marked off by the use of customized screens, used to prop the family’s enviable collection of striking artwork; while providing functional storage space through inbuilt cabinets and drawers. A full scale abstract oil painting matches the hues of the furnishings and hanging lights, to create a bright, eclectic vocabulary for the drawing area, its elegance accentuated by a petrified wood coffee table as an element of visual interest.
Opposite the formal living lies a dramatic double height family room opening into an
outdoor deck. Flooded with daylight, the lounge forms a versatile space, bright and
airy, with a relaxed, cozy vibe. The landscaped balcony acts as an extension of the
family room, providing scenic views of the city, and establishing an interaction
between
the inhabitants and their natural environment; despite being perched twelve story’s
above the ground. The day lit dining room is a mealtime haven, its pastel green and
yellow chairs and pale blonde onyx table providing a peaceful setting, complemented
by
an eclectic brass light fixture and beige floor tiles. An ornate powder room
services
the formal drawing space, with a glass bowl sitting on an elegant caramel veined
stone
counter.
Beyond the drawing room, the central axis leads one toward the sanctified puja room,
minimally styled in muted tones, with shelving units articulated in backlit marble.
At
the eastern edge of the axis, the bedrooms for the two daughters are arranged
symmetrically, each furnished with an elegant customized TV console accommodating
storage and shelving on one side and extending into a study table on the other. A
unique
color theme flows through each of the bedrooms and into their respective bathrooms,
uniting the private spaces for each individual unit. A common hallway runs along the
circulation axis, leading to the son’s bedroom; its veneer ceilings and beige marble
floors giving off subtle, earthy vibes.
Furnished in blue and grey, this spacious bachelor suite incorporates customized
console
table and a study niche, along with a roomy walk-in wardrobe and a private seating
area.
The son’s bathroom exudes elegance through a striking stone countertop and a wood
framed
translucent backlit ceiling. A beige built-in bench and glass shelved niches
integrated
with the bathing area allow functionality with minimalistic styling.
The master bedroom, set in the classy hues of gold and champagne, incorporates
sleeping,
lounging, wardrobe and bath as separate private zones. The bedroom opens out to a
private deck, allowing a flexible usage of open-to-sky space. The usage of pastel
green
onyx stone on countertops as well as the shower enclosure, adds a touch of softness
and
warmth to the master bathroom. The steel and wood spiral staircase leading to the
terrace level forms an arresting visual feature in the circulation lobby. Combined
with
a graceful dressing counter, the feature lends a ‘spa-like’ feel to the entry of the
recreational level above. The terrace floor incorporates a flexible lounge cum home
theatre area, openable outward, to integrate a party deck. The upper level also
houses a
guest bedroom, servant’s quarters and a hobby room, apart from an expansive open
terrace
deck with outdoor seating space. Beyond the deck lies an infinity pool adjoining a
lofty
salon and spa.
Continuous glazing along the exterior allows panoramic views of the Pune skyline,
imparting dramatic visual accents to the recreational space. Planted borders of
balconies and the outdoor terrace enclose the space with natural elements, creating
an
‘indoor-outdoor- living environment within the high-rise apartment. A neutral color
palette adorns the stylistic simplicity and minimalism of this lofty abode,
contrasting
and complementing the bright sprays of daylight filtered through glazed openings. A
variety of habitable spaces, changing levels of enclosure and light, combined with
customized décor elements, convert the living experience into one full of surprise,
excitement and delight.
