Aapulki Residence

A Rustic Farmhouse

Location : Pune, Maharashtra
Status : Completed
Plot Area : 2228 Sq. m.
Built up Area : 1001 Sq. m.

Set amidst green farmlands in Paud Village, on the outskirts of Pune, Aapulki is a rustic retreat, posing as ‘a place of belonging’ among its nature-loving family of inhabitants.

The planning of the house generates layers of varying levels of privacy whist allowing modular gathering spaces for occasional events. The main house is centrally placed with views towards manicured lawns and a natural thickeningof a vegetable garden. A self-sufficient guest house is planned with an independent access, to avoid disturbing the functions of the main house.

The driveway and parking zones are hidden by a screen wall so that is does not hamper the natural feel of the designed spaces. Sloping roofs are used to allow natural cross ventilation and daylight throughout the house. Radiant cooling is used below the floors to lower internal temperatures during peak summers. The inclusive composition of the house is designed to suit the native context of farms situated around the site. Earthy tones, exposed materials and an open design theme gives the residence, a contemplative feel, allowing residents to get in touch with themselves and their natural surroundings.
